EL4P MIDI Controller
about.
The EL4P MIDI Controllers is one in a series of compact, precision-machined MIDI controllers for music production. The EL4P features four high-quality Taiwan Alpha rotary potentiometers, designed for those who value intuition over complex menu diving. Housed in a recyclable, anodized aluminum case with matching custom knobs, this minimalist tool is compact and built to endure.
The EL4P was the first in-house product launched by Engineering Lab. We chose simplicity and quality over complexity in order to get from idea to production as quickly as possible. The purpose of this product line is to generate a client-independent revenue source for the agency.
challenge.
The main challenge of this project was bringing the product concept - and its online tool - to life with a two-person team. We successfully completed every aspect of development in-house, including design, engineering, website, packaging, certification, marketing, and sales. It was also important to me that the product be easily repairable by the user and made with materials that are as recyclable as possible.
results.
In July 2024, just 4 months from the beginning of the process, we launched the EL4P and have been selling it ever since. With careful material and supplier selection, we achieved a materially conscious, easily repairable controller at a price point we are happy with for this market.
We have been delighted to hear great feedback from electronic music giants such as Enrico San Guliano, Quantic, Masalo, and many international customers.
