MOD POD
about.
The MOD POD is a compact MIDI device that gives you expressive control across fundamental aspects of your music production, with contrasting materials and multimodal interfaces that make a great experience.
For this project, I contributed as Product Lead and Engineer across mechanical, electronics, and software domains. I guided the client in strategic decisions and worked with manufacturers and a software developer to assure a robust, scalable and smooth production.
challenge.
Alex came to us with an idea, a patent and a quick AI Product Render based on his trusty TI-84 Calculator. We took this rough concept and expanded his idea into a manufacturable, popular product that has garnered interest from users world wide and blown up on social media, with over 4000 people on the waitlist.
For the MODPOD I conducted market and user research, supported the industrial design and interface lay out, carried out the mechanical and electronics engineering, as well as wrote test firmware to assure its functionality.
I worked with the client in making strategic product decisions regarding component count, target selling price, material and supplier advise and set him up for a scalable overseas production.

The MOD POD is a few weeks away from manufacturing, and it feels surreal to have started from a quick render and now it's a working product that thousands of people can't wait to get their hands on. The diversified interfaces, portability and excellent quality make it a device that will deliver a great experience for years to come.
